Nobody really gave a reason, but I would guess it's because it means less time for congressional campaigns and/or makes an unevenness between congressional campaigns in off-years compared to presidential years? 🤷🏻♀️

A bill he's carried every year for the last 5 (?) that simply repeals a criminal justice reform bill Democrats passed in 2020. You'd think he could present it in his sleep by now--and get the same result he always gets.
