Update: Erster Run auf Hardest hat 3:15 Stunden gedauert (davon die Hälfte der Bossraum haha) und locker 30 Continues gekostet. Ich wollte vor einer Stunde ins Bett. This game, man.

Had a dream a while back in which I discovered the existence of the "Grave of the Fireflies/Super Mario World 2-in-1" for the Wii. It basically functioned as a DVD except for a "special features" section that literally only had an SNES emulator playing Mario World. It went for absurd prices on eBay

The cover for a fake Wii game consisting of both the 1988 Studio Ghibli film, Grave of the Fireflies, and Super Mario World; both are represented on the cover, the former by the poster of Seita carrying his sister Setsuko across a field and the latter by the artwork of Mario wearing a cape and riding Yoshi. The cover promises "TWO classics in ONE!".

Still an absolute gem of a game, with a surprisingly un-videogamey story.

While there's some exploration to it, I wouldn't call it a metroidvania either. It's more linear and setpiece/story-driven. About 12 hours, give or take.

Hasn't aged a day, either. Those pixels are still gorgeous.

EARTHION

Ein solides Retro-Shmup (actually playable on a Sega Genesis), das nichts fundamental falsch macht, aber auch in keinster Weise das Rad neu erfindet. Die Shield-Mechanik wirkt in Teilen wie eine Entschuldigung für manche Levelabschnitt- und Gegnerdesigns. Na ja.

Ender Lilies & Magnolia are so weird, the games are *fine* and work "as intended" but there's zero difference between what you expect vs. what you get. Everything you think it's going to do, it will do at some point. Almost unbearably smooth. But that's part of the appeal I guess.
