Extremely grateful for @canucksarmy.bsky.social for asking me to contribute. Very excited for my first article there.

I focused on the specific contract details that made the original Filip Hronek trade so special then used those parameters to find similar options this season. Give it a read!

Canucks currently have the third least cap space in the NHL with $0.47m.

This will change drastically if the roster can have a sustained period of health.

Canucks have announced Pierre-Olivier Joseph has been placed on IR retroactive to September 30th.

This leaves the Canucks with about $0.47m in cap space.

I wrote an article speculating this situation on Sunday.

From the 1970 to 1985 drafts, the Canucks first pick made their NHL debuts in that same season.

Dan Woodley was the first to not make the NHL immediately. Was drafted in 1986 but did not make his NHL debut until 1987.

Canucks could paper down D-Petey & Lekkerimaki then recall them for Thursday's game.

The new rules for sending players to the AHL do not start until Oct. 10th. Afterwards, all players sent to the AHL must play at least one game there before they can recalled.
vcanucksnews.bsky.social
Final rosters must be submitted by 2pm PST today.

For teams utilizing LTIR, there will be subsequent moves in the coming days to maximize their LTIR space.

For the Canucks, there are various moves they can make to maximize cap accrual for the next couple of days.

I don’t think the roster is settled yet. Possible there’s an IR placement later in the week and Mancini comes back up.

Looks like the final two #Canucks cuts are Victor Mancini and Tom Willander.

Curious to see if this remains the case until opening night, or if Mancini is back up after some further shuffling.
vcanucksnews.bsky.social
Exactly this. I wouldn't be shocked if there's an IR placement and Mancini is recalled in short order.
vcanucksnews.bsky.social
Canucks did not place anyone on waivers.

Most likely scenario is that Forbort or POJ will start the season on IR.

Canucks would only need to send one player down tomorrow with Willander being the most likely candidate.
