Archdeacon of Gwent Valleys and Diocese director of mission in the Diocese of Monmouth, Church in Wales. Can not spell so look out for interesting typos!
My observation about all the safeguarding mishandling being exposed is that so often they lead back to the culture George Carey had and decisions he made that enabled people to stay on post.

Utterly depressing news … please do write to Wes Streeting & your local MP. Things are becoming ever more challenging for the trans community, despite the government’s ‘aim’ to make trans lives easier …I feel like the marginalisation of my kind is something few care about

O Key of David and sceptre of the House of Israel; you open and lead the prisoners from the prison house, those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.

He has shown the strength of His arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Glory be…

Generally when the news brings to mind Advent themes it’s the gloomy ones of judgement, but the stories about the prisoners coming out of Assad’s awful political prisons are Adventy in a different and much more joyful way.

One of the strangest things about politics is how Amerevangelicals, who routinely complain about how they are being “persecuted” because someone said “Happy Holidays,” enthusiastically support the killing of Christians and the destruction of churches.
Israel has obliterated the mausoleum of Simon Peter, the Apostle of Christ, in Shama, southern Lebanon.

A sacred site that has stood for over 2,000 years, now lies in ruins.

This is not “self-defense”.

This is a war crime and a crime against history.

Good advice here. Particularly the name business, because it seems benign and is an easy bad habit to slip into with a small tight-knit congregation, but it’s really horrid for visitors or newbies (and may contribute to them not sticking around, at that…)
As long as I'm in a blogging mood, here are some thoughts on administering communion. Some clergy won't like what I have to say!

I have taken on board your feedback and revised my poem, with a more accurate rhyming scheme.

There was an Archdeacon called Stella,
Who adored Call of Duty and Villa,
She did adore Jesus, her dogs and all cheeses,
But with love, poems just didn’t fill her.
