I'm casting on these beautiful mittens as I wait for the yarn for my next shawl project to arrive.
When I knit socks or mitts, I find that knitting both at the same time (on two sets of DPNs) is the most effective approach. These won't be finished before winter's end, but I don't care. Hah.

I find myself having more gratitude than usual for the small things we often take for granted. Having experienced both opulent wealth & abject poverty, I appreciate little treasures and gestures more than I can express.

Gardeners know that soil that's depleted of nutrients is too sterile to support life. Add pesticides & herbicides to it instead of replenishing it, with an added dose of unstable weather patterns, and you can't grow anything.
Soil health is paramount for sustained life on Earth, & we've killed it.
