All good!! There are a lot of great articles about them. There are a lot of medicinal mushrooms that are used in Eastern medicine. I've only used reishi so far, but there are so many to delve into.

No fear of death necessary: they aren't considered edible because they have a thick, leathery texture that few humans could chew through, but they're highly medicinal. In Japan, they're used in conjunction with chemo and immunotherapy for cancer treatment.

Exactly this. I had a lovely friendship with an elderly neighbour who only spoke Mandarin. We managed to communicate just fine, and shared many cups of tea and various baked goods over the years.
