it has big personalities appearing on the show (even if its for small cameos), they shot on the actual LCS stage, they have the actual league casters, its very very well shot, but yet. no one i know had ever heard of this show before . did they have no promo budget ? did they want to kill it ??

i mean you said it yourself! marketing is about changing people's associations of brands, and amazon wants to be associated with it so they're spending more money on it. im assuming google has no issues hiring off academia (or at all, tbh), but i agree its disapointing they're only a bronze sponsor

yep basically. also jane street is (in hiring) advertising to a much narrower subset of ppl, which is ppl who can and want to work in ocaml. on top of that, they have their own extensions and stuff, so they're looking for ppl who want to work *on* ocaml. having their name at the top is big for that

they're a platinum tier supporter, which is 15k usd (popl26.sigplan.org/attending/su...) . that's pennies ^^'

they made 20bn last year, if they're spending even 1% of that on marketing, its hundreds of millions
