📚 Robert Burns was born #OnThisDay 1759. Dunblane's historic Leighton Library has 1787 Edinburgh First Edition of "Poems, chiefly in the Scottish dialect" by him. He visited Dunblane same year. This edition has additional 17 poems & 5 new songs, as well as most poems in 1786 Kilmarnock Edition…/👇

The Mound's "electric blanket" was completed in December 1959 at a cost of £4716. In its first year it cost £1018 to heat, double expectations. It was abandoned in 1975 to avoid digging up the road surface - which still had 20 years life in it - to repair the blanket wires @edinreporter.bsky.social
