Feels like there’s no middle ground when talking about these. Either they’re the worst trash imaginable or they’re amazing. In reality I think they were all just “okay”, you know? TLJ was at least more interesting than TFA and I appreciated that.

I’m not sure what it is but something about this game really gripped her. And like I said, not many games do this. I say this all because I think there is something here beyond “just a pretty good rpg”. If you don’t feel that I respect that opinion but it’s hard to deny many did.

My non-gamer wife watched me play through Metaphor twice this year and while she thought it was cool it didn’t really stick around in her mind. E33 however was riveting to her. She was super engaged in the story and didn’t want to miss anything. Very few games do this for her.

Ooh I want this; though it continues to bum me out that there’s almost never a physical option for PC anymore. I love collecting physical games but I hate playing FPS games on console/controller.

The original LID had such a good soundtrack full of heavy Japanese bands (a bunch of bands doing original tracks for the game!) Slop music in the sequel is such a shame

I’m hyped on it in theory, but at that price point there’s no chance I’m buying one. The Valve superfans are out there though and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was still some measure of success on name alone.

But I guess that's just what happens. There are a few voices with concerns but they get left behind by all the teenagers that want to play Half life 2 and then 20 years later and whoops nobody owns their games anymore. (I know there are still ways, but broadly speaking)

Yeah that's fair; I guess that's what I meant is it's the thing that popularized/mainstreamed it. I definitely remember the HL2 times, I made my steam account to play that originally back in the day.

It's also ironic that people (generally speaking) hate the "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy." state of things these days but is Valve not the origin of this? At least in the gaming sphere.
