I'll add another unforgettably scary moment in residency was an infant with epiglottitis that's also caused by a vaccine preventable infection: Haemophulus influenzae type B. Another common feature of whooping cough and epiglottitis is *suddenly* the baby stops breathing *completely.*

My personal policy is to never recommend a brand of formula; any technique or any ingredient with clear benefit is rapidly adopted by all in the industry. That said, the initial response wasn't great here.

The main thing that's different about this brand is it's use of whole milk (instead of milk solids and whey). I wouldn't be surprised C botulinum spores survived common milk sanitation processes, but ir would be surprising there was something that caused high load of spores.
