It's wonderful to be inspired by the beautiful things others make, whether they be characters, settings or stories, but it's important to let them exist in their own right and not just appreciate them for how they serve us and our own creations.

Also, I think us as OC creators need to learn to appreciate art for the sake of art. I used to be in an environment where every piece of media was immediately categorized as "oc inspo" for something or another and it was so exhausting and stifling, it was hard to appreciate the work itself.

Surround yourself with people that will encourage your creativity, indulge in it and want to build on it with you, not police and pick away at it. It is such an inspirational experience!

oh btw if you guys liked Silent Hill f may I suggest Detention. It's by the same studio that made Devotion. It takes place during White Terror in Taiwan and has some really great horror elements from Taiwanese mythology.
