Excited to share my new study with the
VETSA team (vetsa.bsky.social) with jaelman.bsky.social and matthewpanizzon.bsky.social published in #JINS showing that moderate-to-severe chronic pain and opioid use are independently related to risk of mild cognitive impairment. tinyurl.com/y88k5z4j
This figure shows a higher rate of mild cognitive impairment among people with moderate to severe chronic pain versus mild or no chronic pain.

Happy to share a new published study link.springer.com/article/10.1...
on subjective memory concern, negative affect, and cortical microstructure using @vetsa.bsky.social dataset and supported by a K01 grant from the NIA!

We found around 1.31% of childhood disadvantage effects on later life GCA were mediated by SA profile. Specifically, childhood disadvantage was related to more deviation of the cortical SA spatial patterning from the normative cortical organizational principle, which in turn was linked to lower GCA.

Specifically, the profile is the extent to which the spatial patterning of SA deviates from the normative unimodal–transmodal cortical organization as defined by the principal gradient (Margulies et al., 2016).

Although total SA has been linked to lifespan GCA differences, total SA does not capture the nonuniform nature of childhood disadvantage effects on neuroanatomy (e.g., different across unimodal and transmodal cortices). To address this, we created a novel metric—cortical SA profile.

New article led by @cfnote.bsky.social and Shu-Ju Lin describing a novel parcellation of abnormal white matter w/ 5 distinct regions. Twin models identified common & unique genetic and environmental influences that may reflect variable underlying etiologies.
