I've written an article about Taku Makino, a little-known Sega artist whose face and work you may be familiar with (notably his contributions to the Golden Axe, Sonic and Shinobi series).

Thank you very much! Only part of the diary has been archived, but I would like to have the rest, please!

A REQUEST: If you own a French CD-ROM computer game called "Pop Anim'", please let me know. I could use it for some research but haven't been able to find a circulating copy yet. (It's at the BnF but I can't get there right now.)

C'est déjà beaucoup pour moi, merci encore !

Merci beaucoup ! C'est a priori la superior version (même si j'ai certains titres ont gagné au change en anglais).

The first 2 chapters out of a total of 15 (one per week) are already available in English and French. I will add appendices as I go along (chronology, detailed list of games, gallery, etc.).
It took me nearly 4 years of work, so I hope you'll enjoy it.

I wrote a long article about Rieko Kodama, her career at Sega, the evolution of her company, the games she worked on (including some canceled games and/or games for which she is not credited), the status of women and working conditions in the video game industry, etc.

Illustration: a portrait of Rieko Kodama with some of the games she has worked on. The dominant colors are yellow, purple and red. Counterclockwise from top left: Rieko Kodama, Alis and Lutz from Phantasy Star, Sonic in a maze, Alex Kidd and his motorbike next to Flicky on a waterfront pier, Joe Musashi and his dog near the Statue of Liberty facing a skyline, the three playable characters from Golden Axe seen from behind on the edge of a cliff, and one of the flying ships from Skies of Arcadia.

I updated my personal interview list - chiefly to account for deaths that I've missed.

Out of the 142 people I've formally interviewed, at least ten have passed away since I started. If you ever need a motivation to reach out - let it be that!

How many people can one man interview? Take a look and find out.

I thought something seemed off about the the image posted below: it's a photo that's been edited and colorized by AI. Please don't do that.

Same here. I'm almost surprised the author didn't list "Google" as a source.

"Silksong" + "jeu parfait pour handhelds" = famous last words

(something that had been free until then, and which I myself did every day in the mid-1990s).

In France, some video game shops had arcade machines in the 1990s. It was probably when they realised that this was making them money that some of the owners of these shops offered their customers a paid service allowing them to play console games in their shop for a given period of time

I'm not a graphologist, but I noticed that the '8' was written in a particular way on this sketch – you can see the connection at the top right, which is also visible in Kotabe's handwriting.

No worry! Thanks anyway?

No signature either on the artworks?
