I’m sorry for the long post but a lot of you have followed me for a long time, since 2016 when I was one of the first to repeatedly call out Trump for being a Russian asset.

The ICE raids are not just a civil rights issue, but a human rights issue. The model for how to secure those rights is an American model. May the spirits of the great civil rights leaders guide us now. One cannot say they respect them while ignoring the lessons they gave us.

They hadn't declared an illegal assembly nor directed people to leave the area. Unarmed and speaking through a bullhorn to ICE to find their humanity. No one was near. I was targeted. this is an example that the content of a peaceful man's speech can be more powerful than any rock or fire bomb.

This is how we teach civics in my house. We don't recite pledges to flags. We talk about responsibility. We love our neighbors, and we live our convictions. Even if it might hurt.

I will keep at least some vision in that eye. Thanks to the polycarbonate eyeglass lens. Most of the force went into the bone around the socket. The plastic lens cut the crap out of my eye brow but that will heal.
Being a nurse means advocating for everyone in the community. They won't quiet me.
