Abad Santos' breakdown of "the girl boss" was eye-opening and saddened me because there are so many true girl bosses—women who have integrity, respect, and dignity, lift others up, share their success, and actively challenge dehumanizing systems. (1/?)

It is interesting that as soon as women raise their personal standards for men and relationships, the rate of marriage is declining and who is blamed for it? Women, "giving up on men". Instead of men refusing to step up to the plate and show up as equal parts in the relationship....

We also need to talk about the "Why didn't you ask for help" idea. I've learned the official term: the mental load. The delegation of tasks or many separate mental lists women of the household must keep at all times is a job in itself. I, and I'm sure tons of other women" don't "ask" for help (1/?)

Women already do most of the emotional, physical, and domestic labor in relationships, and still, when illness hits, they’re the ones expected to keep the house in order.
Men benefit from marriage more, and yet somehow show up less. It's devastating. Reading the Guardian's article on men who (1/?)

Reading Blakemore's recap on the history of abortion (or what came to be later known as abortion) was extremely interesting.
For as far as history goes back, there have been unwanted pregnancies. It wasn't until around 1857 that there was a major shift in perspective... (1/?)

"This lack of female facilities reflected a notable attitude about women: that they should stay home. This "urinary leash" remains a problem in some developing nations."

This blew my mind to read... make it make sense. I have to admit, I have never heard of this or much at all about the history (1/

Hamilton's article highlights that while many female college students are actively searching for husbands, it is very clear that women's goals have been redefined over time. Women realized that college is much more than a stepping stone to marriage. (1/?)

It's fascinating how the same trend (such as Clean eating on social media) can be viewed from two different lenses to align with gender norms. Women seem to associate clean eating with beauty and weight loss, while men view it as a tool for strength, discipline, and performance. (1/2)

Hamlett's article hit me in the chest... I've had these thoughts regarding my boyfriend and our relationship. Women have become the primary source of emotional/intimate support for men as a result of social programming and it 100% takes a toll on the woman and the relationship. (1/?)

It was fascinating to read the article about "aging being primarily a women's issue" because we age slower but still are competing for wage equality. So, FACTS.... we have a major issue that needs to be addressed. Many women spend their whole lives caring for others... (1/?)

Removing "ethnicity filters" is not enough to fix sexual racism, but I suppose it's a place to start?! I was never aware that this existed on dating apps and that is INSANITY. People are filtering human beings with a checklist like we do when picking out a new car. (1/?)

I watched every season of Euphoria, and although I enjoyed the drama, I could not agree more with Wilkinson's statement that the (high-school-aged) female characters were extremely oversexualized. WHERE is the line between representation and objectification??? #MoreThanOurBodies

Fabulousness: "a way of dressing and styling the body that not only disrupts gender codes but also introduces new forms of identity into the world." MORE OF THIS! We place a high value on clothing choices, and the workplace would be a much safer place for everyone if we could be ourselves.

K-pop groups are redefining what it means to be masculine: they embrace makeup, fashion, AND expressing their emotions. How does this reshape the strongly-held gender norms of a globalized world? @Refinery29

Identical twins is a perfect way to explain epigenetics or how our environments alter gene expression. Just as identical twins can develop very different characteristics regardless of genetic coding, gender identity/expression is fluid and can be influenced by more than just biology.

Wade's article highlights more overlap between the sexes than differences. The variation we see between individuals goes deeper than binary distinctions. Comparatively speaking, male and female humans are nearly identical when looking at other species.

Greenhouse's article on new intersex rights is progressive and inspiring for the future. Germany recognizes the variability in human biology and protects infants from unnecessary medical intervention, ultimately challenging gender norms as a whole.

"every individual brain is a mosaic of circuits that control the many dimensions of masculinity and femininity"
THIS^^^.
The brain as a whole challenges the gender binary, as every single trait exists on a spectrum for every single person, regardless of sex.

It's no surprise to me that boys from wealthy families outperform girls in math. It wasn't that long ago that women were told their role was inside the home, and men had to compete for high-paying jobs. Boys who grow up with wealthy fathers feel pressure and have a distinct definition of "success"

I loved learning about the history of high heels 👠 just when I thought that they were created for women to be slightly disabled, they were created for men to feel taller and more powerful.... until they didn't anymore... sounds ab right

It's interesting to compare the Muxe community to LGBTQ+ community in the USA. It wasn't until relatively recent years that we celebrated the free self-expression of these communities, but in regions of Mexico, this has been built in to their culture/daily lives/spiritual beliefs. Fascinating.

@unosocofgender.bsky.social I always wondered about the origins of "men don't cry," turns out that crying was lowkey a power move for men in the past?! V interesting that we see a shift in men expressing all emotions as a result of industrialization and the world revolving around productivity...

@unosocofgender.bsky.social First of all, I have to comment on the Boston Marriage because... PERIODTT💅 @ 19th-century women who found a socially acceptable way to live independently/ have an intimate life free from men!
