Final semester at UNO, graduating in May in Psychology, and attending graduate school at Loyola University for my masters in Counseling!
Whether I’m working in an agency or building a private practice as an LPC, I recognize the responsibility to remain teachable and humble. Offering a client-centered approach will always be my priority. I will always be encouraged by the bravery of the women who made this possible! Wins are wins:)

The girlboss archetype will always be a personal source of motivation for me. To me, being a girlboss means striving to uplift other women, leading with integrity, and staying accountable. (5/6)

Growing up with a single mom who built her own successful, people-centered business, I’ve seen what a true girlboss looks like. That term was earned by so many women who took real risks and challenged the norms, and it deserves to be honored, not diluted. (4/?)

I was a huge Nasty Gal fan, so I guess I'm coming from a place of sadness — what once felt like a major step forward for women turned into something ironic :( (3/?)

These women deserve to be celebrated, not overshadowed or overgeneralized by the ones who don't have these core values. Even if leadership structures reflect their male-dominated roots, the fact that women now hold these positions is a real and meaningful victory that shouldn't be overlooked. (2/?)

cleaning the toilet because the toilet WE BOTH USE has needed cleaning for days and somehow I am the only one that notices it needs cleaning?? Ok, a bit of a personal rant but... I think it is applicable to this week's topic of uneven, gendered division of labor. (2/2)

leave their wives when chronic illness strikes was heartbreaking. From personal experience, cohabiting with a male partner and being the only person who notices housework that needs to be done is difficult. I can't imagine getting a terminal diagnosis and having to maintain the same housework load.

The transition to viewing a woman's choice as a criminal act seems to stem from double standards and a broader effort to reclaim control over women altogether. The exclusion of midwives who historically played a CRUCIAL role with women further highlights the patriarchal shift in medical authority.

Now that we've got some of the facts... I find it appalling that as soon as male gynecologists decided that midwives had no role in caring for women (Midwife translates to "WITH WOMAN"), suddenly, the termination of pregnancy is a criminal act (and a grave one). (4/?)

According to Blakemore, what we now recognize as an early-induced abortion wasn't called an abortion at all. Women who had an early termination were just the "pregnancy slipping away and menses being restored" (3/?)

“Storer (gynecologist, 1857-"criminal abortion") argued that abortion was immoral and caused “derangement” in women because it interfered with nature. He lobbied for the association to think of abortion not as a medical act, but a grave crime, one that lowered the profession as a whole” (2/?)

is unnecessary.. Some people's argument is "they don't want to share a bathroom with someone of the opposite gender,"...and there's a much bigger issue with that statement for me. At this point, we are completely invalidating entire communities of human beings. North Carolina... wyd? (3/3)

Public bathrooms have come up in conversation... bathrooms are weird. It is a universal place where a quite intimate activity occurs, but its also a public place in society. To create laws that force transgender individuals use a bathroom associated with a gender they don't identify with...(3/?)

Of public bathrooms. Learning about how in the Victorian era, the first gender-segregated bathroom arose and was seen as "eccentric"? It is sad to be reminded that women in other countries do not have their basic needs met and to think about the impact this has on their social participation. (2/?)

I think it is essential that we, as a society, continue to challenge outdated norms such as the "Mrs. Degree." Women can take many paths, and marriage is ONE option. Also, I think it so important to recognize that not every woman wants to get married??? (2/2)

Androcentrism is "the granting of higher status, respect, value, reward, and power to the masculine compared to the feminine". This explains the deeply engrained pattern of men needing to do the most "manly" things. It has its benefits in a society that must compartmentalize us.

It's time to rethink what "masculinity" is and encourage vulnerability... Afterall, vulnerability= courage (shoutout Ms Brene Brown- my hero) (3/3).
