This is not fertile soil for leftist politics, I agree. But to take that as a repudiation of the politics themselves simply accepts that fascism is inevitable, which I hate to say, makes you a fucking impediment to the world I want to live in.

The real point here is that there are things to be flexible on (infrastructure projects, nuances of socialized medicine implementation) and there are things not to be flexible on (human rights, the rule of law), and liberals/dems in America have been flexible on the latter for decades.
