I’ve had the privilege of working on things I’m deeply passionate about, earning immense trust, and collaborating with some of the most talented people I’ve met. That combination is rare — and I never took it for granted.

Want to give a quick shoutout out all the supporters of @jetpackcomposeapp.bsky.social over the years. Open-source and free-only projects can often be thankless but your kindness has given me the extra boost to keep it going 🙏🏻

The latest issue of Dispatch goes out in an hour! It's a special issue because it features someone that has spent the last ~10 years working on screenshot testing infra and is the founder of @screenshotbot.bsky.social

I've been around the Google ecosystem for ~15 years. I've also had the fortunate of attending Google I/O a few times over the years. Trust me when I say this.....

Yesterday's #GoogleIO event was different.

Massive shoutout to Runway who has been a really early supporter as they believed that it would be valuable to the Android community. They have been supporting the newsletter since Issue #5 and it just wouldn't be possible without them. They backed Dispatch before it was fashionable 😎

The same issue was also the topic of discussion for one of the episodes of @fragmentedpodcast.com where I got to jam with my good friend @kau.sh

🔦 Highlight of the year?

Issue # 11 stood out as it generated a lot of conversations with the community. I interviewed a bunch of Android OG's about how to think about the future and it resonated enough that it's now one of the keynote sessions for @droidcon.bsky.social happening next month!

🗞️ Overall, I published 15 issues and the feedback has been super strong. That's a big reason why I've invested in custom tooling to help me with curating the content that I care about. This will allow me to publish more frequently and in the future I'll give a peek at what my process looks like.

🎂 Dispatch just turned ONE!

It's gone from a “let’s-see-if-anyone-reads-this” side project to something that some of the best Android engineers turn to for their reliable Android fix.

Keeping up with Android can been hard so people appreciate entertaining high quality content.

Here's a quick demo of it in action.

This is much easier to deal with as compared to Material Design as it gives you far more flexibility and the web ecosystem has wholeheartedly adopted this approach with shadcn and has found this to be more scalable.
April 9, 2025 at 6:05 PM
🚀 @shadcn.com but for Android?? That's possible now!

Building a consistent and reusable component library in Jetpack Compose can be time-consuming. Enter Lumo UI—a powerful Gradle plugin that simplifies the process.

One thing I'm yet to change is these preview images for each edition of the newsletter. They look repetitive but I'm trying to experiment with a few different ways to generate them using a template. This will change over the next couple weeks.
April 7, 2025 at 5:52 PM
The previously iteration also didn't have anything about me and as it turns out, it was a missed opportunity to build some credibility.

Kinda braggy/cringy but probably the right call from the standpoint of a landing page so the right move to add this in.
April 7, 2025 at 5:52 PM
I'm already seeing early signs of that. In a recent edition, I asked a bunch of Android experts about the future of Android. The post resonated with the community and is now the topic of one of the keynote sessions at @droidcon.bsky.social later in the year 🤯
April 7, 2025 at 5:52 PM
For example, I wanted to reiterate how this is about Android developers more than it is about Android Development. There's a big shift coming to software engineering overall and I think Dispatch will play a role in helping navigate that shift for Android developers.
