Even if we do everything “right”—we win in the midterms, we get Trump to leave office, we elect champions of the people at all levels of government—we will not recover from today. Lives will be lost that we’ll never get back, families will be destroyed and never repaired. It is a devastating day.

Today proves that many elected officials, whose sole duty is to be the voice of the people, fail to listen to their constituents. Of all the calls and emails received by senators and representatives alike, how many truly expressed support of this bill?
