Curious guy playing around with and using GenAI in all things content marketing. Ambivalent re: Oxford comma.
Real company taglines from experience:

Airtable - Solving problems Excel never had
Webflow - Random chaos for free
Sanity - Live up to the opposite
Tesla - Cut rate Boxsters without the thrill
Apple - Convincing you that complicated is easy
USA - Always been for sale. Just waking up

For all the talk of opportunity in GenAI, extremely basic issues remain.

The next time someone mentions :You can run an enterprise with a team of 8 people:, remind them of this.

Google's updated 2024 Quality Rater Guidelines now downgrades "filler content" — prominent, low-effort content that doesn't provide value

E.g., recipe sites that talk about their grandmother while pushing valuable info to the bottom of the page

Great find via @mariehaynes.bsky.social 🙏
Some more interesting additions to the QRG: Filler content.

Working on the 3rd edition of my QRG checklist as there have been so many changes with this latest update!

So much of tech sounds smart but results in products that are...meh.

Take AI content detectors for example. Ahrefs is apparently building one out and here's a blog that explains how they work.

So many smart words. And I guarantee it'll flag human content as AI and AI as human.

Exploring how GenAI is changing things in content marketing is fascinating. For example, we used to split an article between a strategist, writer, and editor.

👉Now, GenAI is forcing these roles onto a single person, meaning, editing skills and understanding structure matter more than SEO skills.
