My grandmother (a professional botanical artist herself) gave me my Flower Fairies books, to train my eye. Most of the less common plants I recognise are down to Barker.

MsP is absolutely right. Also, I think Sophie is much better equipped mentally to pick herself up and carry on living a full life when the break-up deservedly happens.
