So yesterday a reporter asked Donald Trump about the writ of habeas corpus, and he had no idea what it was.

"I don't know," he said. "I'd rather leave that to Kristi."

Well, It turns out Sen. Hassan asked Kristi Noem about it in May, and this was Noem's response:

HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

Pope Leo XIV has blasted how wealthy people live in a “bubble of comfort and luxury” while the poor suffer. In his first teaching document Thursday, Leo confirms that he is in perfect lockstep with Pope Francis on matters of social injustice.

We're proud to @healthequals.bsky.social #MakeHealthEqual campaign: health inequalities are a huge driver of homelessness and homelessness can be hugely detrimental to health.

We'll be exploring these issues at our upcoming Health and Homelessness conference 👇

Reform says one thing and does the opposite - this is not reforming our politics, it’s what we’ve come to expect after 14 years of Tory rule - is there really any difference between Reform and the Tories? I can’t see it.

I got a bit annoyed at Lewis Goodall for his response to Badenochs speech

I honestly despair 😩

A speech containing yet more demonising of minorities, Trans people, and people with mental health issues

A speech that is yet again very damaging, regardless of how well it is delivered

There should be no positive press attention for continued division stoking drivel

Strong speech from Badenoch. Well delivered. Sharp critique of government. Focussed on politically fertile territory on the economy. Eye catching policy which will get a lot of v positive press attention.

You would have to employ people to gather outside and cheer him every time he appeared. He only seems to need one or two people in the distance to wave and salute, so it wouldn’t be that labour intensive.

I hope/pray this very flawed ‘deal’ from Trump that Hamas & Israel agreed to ends the genocide & famine & leads to a real ceasefire.

But my biggest fear is there is nothing and no one to stop Netanyahu from resuming the genocide once they get all the hostages back and Trump has his Nobel Prize.

And yet he is about to release a statement from his ‘doctor’ that he is the best physical specimen he’s ever seen in his career and in better shape than any other president, living or dead. 🤣

A ceasefire so desperately needed, so much only a starting point of hope. For the innocent civilians in both nations, bombs must stop, food must get in and all hostages freed. Only then can work must begin on a longterm future for both states.

We watch. We wait. We pray it lasts. We pray it works.

I sometimes worry I exaggerate the collective madness of our media but the people who cheered Brexit, Boris Johnson & Liz Truss's mini-budget are now applauding Kemi Badenoch's speech. 'Parallell universe' doesn't come close. I suppose her not falling over is a win of sorts for them at the moment.
