@joeycoleman.ca Do these 'facts' add up to you? All of W2 is @ 6.5% of the city's pop; @ 37K people. So that small 300 acre "core" area can't possibly be home to 53,000 people (9% of the city's 596,707 total pop), can it?
Thanks to Hamilton Spectator for a story on the facts and feelings about downtown (and citywide) safety. As someone who lives downtown, be wary of those who push a fear mongering narrative. It’s an urban environment, for sure, but it’s hardly the hellscape some are pushing. Again, IMO.

@ward2hamilton.bsky.social Was the partial answer that Council approved these federal funds for operating costs of this site as well as the 192 shelter beds in November; so in effect primarily allocating to capital a few months later is a reconsideration?
Thanks for this. I eventually got a partial answer later in the meeting. City staff will also be bringing forward some more reporting to identify how things add up. It's important. I voted against this report because it didn't add up and because this project still doesn't have an exit plan. #HamOnt
First council question is from Cameron Kroetsch - with city staff re-allocating $5.1-million from encampment response to pay Barton/Tiffany cost overruns.
What was the original plan for that $5.1M
Staff did not answer. Kroetsch asks again.
Staff did not give a direct answer. Kroetsch tries again.
