Before Trump came along (esp during the Obama years), the misogyny and homophobia seemingly died down bc people felt more shame if they expressed it. Now, Trump has given free reign to be openly hateful, so unfortunately, many people are promoting it and encouraging others to be just as vile.

Ok, yes, I'm also 38. Based on what I've heard from Gen Z girls, I think it's true. Of course these things also existed when we were young, but now young men and teens are exposed to it to an nth degree online. We grew up in the golden age of the internet. They're growing up in algorithm hell.
