This looks like a hugely exciting and rewarding role for somebody who wants to take a role in leading English and Literacy in an 11-18 school with high expectations; coaching and you’ll get all the CPD developments that The Ted Wragg Trust offers.

Some absolute corkers of texts used in this resource - diverse, literary and replicable by young people. Thanks @marcusluther.bsky.social

Thank you to Audify in Exeter for restoring my hearing. Returning from holiday, I was completely blocked up with wax/debris after swimming daily. I have spent the past 3.5 weeks with no hearing on the right and partial on the left! I am finally freeeee!

So important for anyone teaching KS4/5 to read and understand.
“Re-marks” changed a while ago and old assumptions about chucking in borderline papers for a re-do don’t make sense anymore. This explains why.
I wrote something about mark reviews (you may know these as re-marks) which summarises what I think every year when I read social media, but never say.

TLDR: if you put in bulk review requests, consider spending the money on interventions instead.

Mark Reviews
As part of my exam role, at this time of year, I undertake reviews of marking. These are more commonly referred to as re-marks, which is a misnomer. Papers are not re-marked from scratch. Instead, the...

‘The quality of marking loses us A-level students every year’ : this statement resonates. Such an issue. #ExamMarking shd be overhauled, respectfully resourced ( better paid / part of CPD for teachers maybe if proper time allocated etc).
So, results day was good. We'd targeted maintaining Language improvements and improving literature. We managed both. Some stand out individual stories but as ever I'm now deep into doing the quality assurance for the board. The quality of marking loses us A Level students every year.
