IT (2017) | IT Chapter 1

That boy 'Quarterdumb' is a goddamn menace. My curiosity with this had finally been peaked when I saw clips of Welcome to Derry being posted. I've seen the older film, but not this or its sequel yet.

I was pleasantly surprised! All around solid horror film (+alt text)
I know this is quite the time of year to be finally peeping this, but eh, its always spooky time with me. You know how it is. I really appreciate how much this story leans on the time period it takes place in for some of the plot points for characters. The loser club are certainly main characters I expect from a 80s themed movie, but they're all likeable enough, and the movie had me concerned for their safety quite a few times. Pennywise ofc is the main attraction of this film and holy moly, props to his actor and some of the shit this creature pulls off to instill fear and parole for a quick bite. The way it observes and takes advantage of other unfortunate events like chess pieces is demented and twisted. I completely get it now why this is such a popular monster in the horror space. He eloquently pulls off a lot of things i've only come to expect from the likes of classic Freddy Kruger. The fact that this entity goes full swing with the clown gimmick, only to really show its desperate beastly nature by the end was a treat to see. All in all, i'll likely get around to chapter two soon. Bravo indeed.

Dynamite Headdy (1994)

Played the JP version w an english patch. Fun platformer, very unique and interesting stage and boss ideas! *Admittedly* its sharp difficulty spike kinda soured my mood a bit, but not enough for me to hate it or anything.

I'll probably need to do another playthrough one day+
From my thoughts on Backlogg'd: I kinda thought i'd click with this game more than how I currently feel about it. I'll probably do another playthrough down the line, but if this was the more fair version of the game, I shutter to know what the hell the US version is like. There were many times in this game where part of me felt very cheated in a way. Its rare I get tripped up by how many things are happening on screen in old games, but Dynamite Headdy put my patience to work. Its at its most demanding for bosses. All fun concepts but usually have their own flavor of diabolical knee breaking. Trapping you in a corner, attacking just if not faster than Headdy can maneuver, obstructing your view of obstacles while keeping you on the look out for potential secret bonus point opportunities; I admire the ambition, I whole heartedly do, but jesus christ. Again, I may need another go at this one day. With my sourness does sometime lead to satisfaction of course. Finally triumphing over bosses I vehemently started to hate after the 6th or 7th try felt satisfying. That and the music eased my mind quite a bit. The bonus game theme especially was my favorite. Lastly, while I did* get every secret number, I forgot the crucial detail I know for a fact I was told many times to write them down. I did not, I wish I did, because admittedly that also kinda soured my initial endgame thought. TLDR: I think this is a mighty good platformer. Aesthetically pleasing, good tunes, unique stage and boss gimmicks, but i'm not too big on how certain things are handled to create difficulty.

ASTERIX: The Arcade Game | Konami (1992)

Played this on VC with the homie WaffulSyrup on medium difficulty. Very fun beat 'em up, but also one HELL of a quarter muncher. Enemies will knock a good chunk of health off you much like you can them.

Regardless, very fun with tons of laughs.

A friend informed me of a neat website that lets you see what images look like with specific color deficiencies.

For example, Plushee is normally blue and purple with magenta eyes. But with blue-blind/Tritanopia, they're a green and grey with red eyes!
