This. All of this. Always, but especially when you’re learning, the whole point is to do the thing. ** THE PROCESS IS THE GOAL**
Encouraging undergraduates to *start* with AI, robs them of the skills they need to begin learning how to be a history detective. And when you move up to the graduate level, AI doesn't have access to actual archives. And it cannot produce new knowledge. *YOU* have to do that.

A big part of being a historian is being a detective! Who did this? Why? Where? Why does it matter in the grand scheme of things? You have to learn how to probe, how to uncover, how to read against the grain, how to find unusual sources, how to interpret those sources. How to piece together a puzzle
It also robs students of learning *how* to research.

E eu que perguntei pro Deepseek (!!) referências bibliográficas na área de insuficiência cardíaca e depois sobre hipertensão pulmonar. Ele dava o nome dos autores e autoras certo, mas TODAS os títulos de livros não existiam. Todos.
Botei minha dissertação como fonte no NotebookLM (o menos pior de todos) e perguntei os autores mais citados. Um era o "Elizeu Meditsch". Estranhei: citei o Eduardo Meditsch (MEDITSCH, E.), eu não erraria o nome de um professor que conheço. O gerador de lero-lero inventou um nome improvável pra ele.
