Hilarious that there is a special English for USA.

Oof. Rough rush hour for suburban and exurban commuters coming into #stjohnsnl this morning.

I'm so humbled by the support and joy little have for my stand ☺️

My friends and I put in all the signs 💪. Many of them right from the back of my car! thanks to everyone who reached out to get a sign 🙏💖 most of the signs are by request and are all compliant with the regs with what I've installed!

Come see the wild attraction that is the RUSSELL sign on Columbus drive. All of my signs are legally placed and meet the election guidelines 😉

@johnriche.bsky.social I saw your commend on the NordSpace first launch and laughed out loud

It's so blue in the Rogers Centre... I mean Sky Dome! #mcrtoronto
August 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
Dunno wtf this is about. As a Newfoundlander the choice is fish but honestly, I'd prefer chicken 😅 #MCR
August 22, 2025 at 10:42 PM
Concerts. I normally don't do them but as an elder millennial, MCR has a spot in mine and my partner's heart 🖤
August 22, 2025 at 10:39 PM
Then I get home to #stjohns. There is no indication there is even a bus at the airport. No signs or symbols. If you did wander around you'd just end up seeing one sign for a bus that runs once an hour

One way Uber/taxi in #YYT is more expensive than a transit pass in all Montréal island for a day 🫠
August 17, 2025 at 10:24 PM
It's late at night. I'm a 25 minute walk to the Metro. Or just scan a bike 2 minutes away, ride directly to the Metro station in 5, pop the bike in the dock, get an alert in seconds that it's all good, then I hop on a subway then on a bus. Loads of night services.

Montréal provides travel choice 😊
August 17, 2025 at 3:47 AM
JFC... I cannot explain how freeing it is to literally scan a bike at a dock, ride for like 10 minutes and lock into a different dock and you're done. Off for a pint and pasta.

I don't really ride to restaurants or anything in #stjohns because finding a bike rack is a hassle.
August 16, 2025 at 8:24 PM
I landed in Montreal.

In less than 40 minutes without any deep knowledge of the system, I managed to get a day transit OPUS pass, hop on the express airport bus from YUL, get on a subway and walk to a specific store, just from the wayfinding maps.

Reliable frequent transit is a game changer 😁

I posted over on reddit/r/stjohnsnl about the current Paddy's Pond wildfire evacuation ORDER's vs alerts map and added CWFIS data.

UNOFFICIAL MAP

I imported the www.gov.nl.ca/alerts/ alert and ORDER pdf's and CWFIS data into arcGIS, geolocated, and added a legend.

That's using $20,000,000 per km of light rail, centre median, surface ran.

The high cost of many projects is simply keeping car capacity requiring complex construction, burying lines, building bridges and viaducts etc.

Replace car space with light rail and we can build it cheap.

Four cars not following the rules for quidi vidi jammed up 4 buses with around 300 people on them for over 6 minutes.

That's absolutely nuts. Those cars were not following the rules but the rules weren't being enforced.

"I think I'll take the bus to the regatta here in #stjohns on this beautiful day 😊. Well that doesn't seem like an efficient route."

This is why people drive.

People will travel however is easiest. We need a city that actually values real choice in mobility. Until then, driving will win.

I have a giant car cut out that's 1:1 of a Subaru Impreza rear end. What should I do with it?

What a fantastic critical mass bike ride on Friday here in #stjohns. Had a great chat with @justmarknichols.bsky.social about my campaign for city council.

Also did a short interview with CBC talking about why having safe cycling infrastructure benefits who whole city.

Next ride on Aug 29th! 🚲❤️

I believe this is my fourth year in the #stjohns #prideparade 🤩🏳️‍🌈. Thanks spf60 sunscreen for making this possible 😜.

Please be aware of the road closures and plan accordingly. See map

(Walking works great 😉) Metrobus has a bulletin but no map associated 🙃. See bulletin

It is absolutely unacceptable that any trip along a transit route is about as slow as walking for over an hour.

In this example I can bike to this destination about as fast as I can drive.

The City of #stjohns has a priority and it's not people. That has to change.

Here in St. John's we are seeing heavy civil construction costs increasing, but not as much as structure costs.

We could just provide safe on street space by converting wide roads to more human scale streets. That can be done with Jersey barriers.

It's the cheapest method to expand active space.
