Some people's ambitions are never sated. I recall a very senior academic in my field (a nice one, not a Goodwin)- prof, head of a very high status department, international organisation lead etc.- once saying to someone how they still hadn't quite achieved all that they hoped.

I think those kinds of lawyers look longingly at a bottle of bleach and then charge that to those kinds of clients at $5000 per glance.

The only things these people are ever good at are lack of self-awareness and projection.

He went from completing his PhD to Professor in 8 years which happens (but I don't really know how). A senior colleague once said to me of such success that a big downside was what else was for them to achieve- unless they wanted to go the route to VC. Goodwin offers another route...
