Afternoon stroll around #Royden. No coffee. About a dozen goosander on the mere. Previously at Six Acre, I think. Quite shy and not interested in standard duck food.

Having trouble parsing the facade reference. Unclear as to whether it's part of the original or modified station. I assume view of 2-3 viaduct arches was obliterated by the Ordsall Chord. Working hypothesis is that the stables were subdivided but presumably best practice reflected the coaching trade

#Royden again. Damp underfoot in places but dry above and forecast for the week is good though not sure how much time there’ll be for excursions.

Updated again. I've basically come round to the view that the roadway arches (green) are indeed distinct from those of the viaduct (as suggested by views of Smoult and Shaw) though they do partially overlap those under the viaduct and hence could provide access to the arches under the roadway.

#Thurstaston to #Heswall Banks Rd and back via Wirral Way again. Not too promising initially and quite chilly. Lots of folk running which was good to see. Coffee at YOT (closed Tuesday 23rd - Friday 2nd).

Interesting. So a second, separate boiler as of 1834? Might explain why there are two clear areas adjacent to arches. Certainly pre-1837 then.
Not sure I'd describe 85F as hot, more like warm?
