Ngl, a city builder with this style of architecture makes me want to play it. You just got someone interested in your work !

Omg I dkdn't know there where MONTH long ones. For me 2-3 days is arleady enough to kill me. Good luck on you all btw !

Then when you have one pc that is minimum, compare cpu/gpu to the most common steam survey components using benchmark sites, then when you find the most popular match, it's your minimum requirement.

If you dont have those, sent it to friends and ask them a screenshot of their task manager, and their fps. Usually the minimum specs have more than enough ram/vram to run the game and cpu/gpu that can play at 30 fps minimum.

Look up how much ram and vram the app takes in various situation, test it on servral hardware and look up if its limited by cpu or gpu. A good first step will be testing on an old laptop, then a low tier pc, then a high, until the game runs good.

good progress, keep it up !

Game dev is a task so enourmous that I think it's not a problem, you musn't rely on it too much, but if it helps by explaining basic stuff for you, it's fine. The problem is using ia generate art in the actual game. If you want to learn godot I think they are some good human made ressources for that

Made the thesis in a computer science laboratory, where my teachers were working. Got one that was specialized in procedural noise and texture in real time that gave me my thesis theme.
December 20, 2025 at 4:11 PM
You can always dm me if you need some help/advance explanation on the subject. The screenshots I post are all 100% procedural and I did my master thesis on this very subject. I would be always glad to help a fellow dev.

Great work, but I think the wave could gain from behing a little more random. If you are using sine functions to generate them, try to add 2 or more with different scale and frequency. Or maybe use a perlin-like noise/texture ?
December 20, 2025 at 7:29 AM
Oh, I see, that quite good arleady. This kind of art direction could greatly benefit from procedural textures, but the learning curve is quite steep at times, and it is time consuming. Just asked out of curiosity.

Oh, you're in for a hell of a run ! Folliage is kinda hard to optimize/do, yours look good for now. It seems like you are using a texture ? Maybe trying a vertex based approach with no texture/transparency could be a good thing to test.

Intersting, I run pop os with cosmic (full wayland), so this could be helpful to know for a futur upgrade.
December 20, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Must say... it looks good ! Is this procedural texturing (my beloved) or did you do everything by hand ?

I know some fellow artists that are very displeased with the time it takes to render their videos on cycles. Blender seems to punish you for your badly optimize topology/materials/settings when you least except it.

Hello fellow linux gamer ! happy for you, I think going away from Nvidia is a good idea, seeing the recent news and their focus on IA datacenter. I didn't know AMD where packing such power tho.
