Singer/songwriter from the Twin Cities area. Neil Finn fanboy, Beatlemaniac, power pop aficionado. Shy, bookish introvert. USAF veteran, opponent of fascism. Pug dad.
Trying to be a good person, often struggling mightily with that.
It’s December 24th and I am devoid of Christmas spirit.
In this land I am surrounded by supposed Christians who take endless joy in visiting cruelty upon the most vulnerable. It’s not exactly inspiring.
Let’s get through the remainder of this shitty year and then fuck up some fascist dreams in 2026.

Weird how the death of American society has coincided with the widespread idolization of the antihero.

I just saw that Public Enemy is now playing the casino circuit and, holy shit, do I feel old.

Living in a country full of “Christians” who have fully embraced a gospel of hatred, bigotry and cruelty doesn’t really foster much Christmas spirit.

This is our “I don’t want to get out of bed yet” face.

I mean, who among us hasn’t done this at eleven in the evening?
Eric Trump: "You can send $500 million worth of bitcoin on a Sunday night at 11pm while having a glass of wine with your wife for virtually zero fees."

The unusual autumn weather has made our front-yard maple tree stunningly gorgeous this year.
Even when the world is shit - ESPECIALLY when the world is shit - we need to appreciate the beauty around us.

Just went on Facebook for the first time in a while, and it, if nothing else, is definitely a useful tool for determining which of one’s old schoolmates are unrepentant racists.

It’s always interesting to see content from the Bulwark people. They’re all essentially saying, “We helped to create the current crisis; now listen to us tell you how bad the thing we did is, but don’t blame us for doing it.”

One interesting facet of the shitbombing video is that, in the rich fantasy world of MAGA, a man who can’t even drive a car somehow is now able to operate a jet aircraft with pinpoint precision.

Terminally adorable.

The White House in ruins. Northern cities occupied. The Federal Government no longer operating. People of color living in fear.

This is like an alternate history where the Confederacy won.

(Or it’s just our sad reality in which the nation somehow elected a neo-Confederate to be President.)

If we had an actual, functioning FBI, I might actually believe there’s some validity to the charges.
FBI Director Kash Patel accuses Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups, and Damon Jones of involvement in "an illegal gambling operation and sports-rigging operation that spanned the course of years."

A person told me recently that they don’t like the Beatles, and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that. How can I take anything else they might say seriously?
It’s like saying, “I don’t like the sun. Photosynthesis is totally overrated.”
October 23, 2025 at 11:55 AM
So Trump wants to shit all over the American people. Tell me something I don’t know.
October 19, 2025 at 7:11 PM
No one should be above the law or the Constitution.

Mister Trump has repeatedly violated both and continues to do so.

That’s why we protest today.

Simple, really.

This still shocks the conscience, even though it’s just a continuation of the trajectory that the GOP has followed since the party/ideological realignment of the 1960s.
When I was a kid, the unreconstructed racists were still considered fringe. But over these sixty years, they’ve been mainstreamed
‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat

It cannot be overstated, the extent to which the GOP has become not merely anti-democracy but anti-American.
Red states seemingly desire to punish their countrymen for the crime of existing.
Republican Governors Eagerly Join Trump’s Military Campaign Against Blue Cities
An Intercept analysis finds nearly every Republican governor has deployed National Guard members to aid Trump’s domestic military agenda.

Like we need to be reminded. 🙄
Trump: "We've got a lot of stupid people in this country running things."
September 22, 2025 at 10:19 PM
The sheer stupidity of fascism. It makes my head hurt.
"And for all the concern about the First Amendment ... what about all the amendments that Charlie Kirk lost? Because Charlie Kirk has no amendments right now."

- Kayleigh McEnany

At age sixty, the idea of legacy is something that I increasingly consider as the reaper draws nearer.
And what has happened to the country in the last sixty years has been utterly disastrous.
My generation’s legacy will be of the death of the Constitution and the end of the American experiment.

There are two kinds of old guys:

1. The old guy whose life story needs to be heard by absolutely no one, but he’s determined to tell you (and everyone else) anyway.

2. The old guy who has an utterly fascinating life story, but who keeps entirely mum about it.

And never the twain shall meet.

Americans really need to stop shooting each other.
September 10, 2025 at 7:31 PM
There’s a line in the film “The Jerk”:
“Don’t never, ever trust whitey.”

I think that line pretty much sums up the entirety of American history.
August 30, 2025 at 4:18 PM
They tell us to be afraid of people of color and immigrants.
Clearly, though, it’s native-born white guys we need to fear.
