American policy for 50 years has been to run a "wealth pump" - that is, reduce wealth for workers, and radically enrich bosses. A tariff will do nothing to address that - either way. It's meaningless, and therefor meaningless to fight about it.

I don't understand why folks thought China wouldn't immediately catch up on AI (especially with LLMs, which are honestly, not that complicated.) Did they know, but just weren't willing to admit it? Did they have nationalistic blinders? What was it?
