Honestly, Trier’s film feels like reading one of those self-help books… It’s like asking your mom for a Bergman movie and she says, “Hey, sweetie, we’ve got Bergman at home.” Everything is so on the nose! And that scene where Trier “mixes” the actors’ faces made me laugh. I’ll give him that.

I’ll say this: you may not agree with her, but she’s more honest than all the actors who conveniently ‘regretted’ working with him, right in the middle of awards season.
In 2019, Scarlett Johansson told THR about Woody Allen: “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.”

In a recent interview Johansson was asked about going to bat for Allen in that THR piece and how she handled the “inevitable online furore.” bit.ly/4oo0sWT

Back at Sundance, I described Train Dream as, in some respects, a misguided attempt to emulate Malick’s early films. With its release on Netflix, I’m sharing my @icsfilm.bsky.social review once more

One Battle After Another: Humm... It’s fine, but nowhere near the masterpiece people make it out to be. I don’t know, maybe it’s a Film Twitter thing, or maybe you have to be American to connect with it? Either way, it’s not even top-three PTA for me.

Also, every time someone mentions Dogma, I have to comment that Alanis delivered one of her finest tracks for that movie. She definitely didn’t have to go that hard, but I’m so glad she did.
