We stand with our Post Guild colleagues in condemning the unjust firing of Opinion Columnist Karen Attiah. It’s both dangerous and self-defeating to take away authoritative strong voices. The Washington Post Tech Guild stands with Karen and will continue to show up for her rights. No one fights alone

The Washington Post wrongly fired Opinions columnist Karen Attiah over her social media posts. The Post not only flagrantly disregarded standard disciplinary processes, it also undermined its own mandate to be a champion of free speech.

The right to speak freely is the ultimate personal liberty and the foundation of Karen’s 11-year career at The Post. We’re proud to call Karen a colleague and a longtime union sibling. The Post Guild stands with her and will continue to support her and defend her rights.

Today we took a collective lunch break along with our siblings @postguild.bsky.social!

The Post unilaterally decided to make us return to the office 5 days a week, so we convened for lunch to share how this policy is impacting our members. We are united! ✊

We will begin immediately formulating plans and laying the groundwork within the unit to begin bargaining with the company for its first collective bargaining agreement. But first, we celebrate!

Even after weeks of aggressive union-busting tactics from management, we persevered and now are able to say that we were a part of the first successful organizing effort to take place at The Post under Jeff Bezos’ ownership - that’s history!

It's official: the ballots have been counted and we have officially been recognized as the Washington Post Tech Guild by the NLRB! In a 171-38 BLOWOUT vote, we voiced loudly that our union is important to us. That's 81%!

When CEO & Publisher Will Lewis first met with Post employees, he shared that he was "a big supporter of the union."

Our ballots have been mailed and our members are voting - we urge them to listen to our own CEO and vote YES for the Tech Guild!

Today we took a collective break to highlight the importance of comprehensive health care.

Here is why health care is important to us:

What solidarity! Our friends at @nytguildtech.bsky.social sent us pizza today for us to enjoy in the D.C. office. We're so grateful to have such a strong union to look up to as we work to build a more equitable, transparent, and sustainable future for all tech workers here at The Post. ✊

It's remote work week! Our members deserve flexibility in how we do our work. The Post is forcing us back into the office in June five days a week. We demand the right to keep remote work.

Here is why remote work is important to us:

Today we delivered a letter on ground rules for our upcoming union election to Jay Kennedy, head of labor relations at The Post. Given The Post’s disappointing decision to refuse to voluntarily recognize our union, we are asking them to agree to basic ground rules to ensure a free & fair election
