Just finished Graydon Carter's memoir. It was fantastic! Right up there with books by Tina Brown and Terry McDonell.
I expect David Remnick to pen one as soon as he's done at The New Yorker.
Maybe David Granger is working on a book about his time at Esquire?
Mag nerds should be so lucky.

I had no idea until just now that today is #nationalsciencefictionday
It just so happens that I’m a little more than halfway finished with Barry Malzberg’s final novel today. It’s incredible.

Nabbed this serial killer horror thriller because of blurbs by Peter Straub and David Morrell for two other titles in the 4-book series. By Jay Bonansinga.

Now that Hearst has purchased the MotorTrend brand, what are the chances they would resurrect a print version of Automobile magazine? Is it possible @tonyquiroga.bsky.social or am I just dreaming?

Finished this terrific biography today. I knew this book was the only way to get an honest and realistic look at AB’s life and final years. Definitely not hagiography. Like most of us, he was a flawed man. Highly recommended work by @leerhsen.bsky.social

The main misstep in the new HBO doc on yacht rock? No mention of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street.” Loved that Sinatra and Streisand were pissed they lost to Christopher Cross’ debut at the Grammys that year. Will never forget slow dancing to “Sailing” with Shannon Curry at my 1st HS dance.

A happy 50th anniversary to this weird and wonderful album.
It was Peter Gabriel’s last with the band he co-formed in 1967.

Somebody needs to write a longform piece on the life/career of editor/writer Carolyn White. She was Richard Ben Cramer’s 1st wife and his editor. She worked at great newspapers and mags (Phil Inquirer, SF Chronicle, Rolling Stone) and was an incredible mentor to many in journalism.

Saturday. Slept late. Ran errands including Whole Foods stop. Getting lost on the way to new Pocahontas/Flora BBQ joint -Sacred Ground. Watched the end of the embarrassing LSU loss. Now reading Lawrence Block’s “When the Sacred Ginmill Closes.” (Lots of NYC bars and serious drinking) Night night.
