The planned roundabout on Dennis Avenue at Proctor Street in #SilverSpringMD is moving to the construction phase. The existing 4-way intersection is being updated to a traffic circle. ▶️ bit.ly/3ITSu9i @natalifg.bsky.social #mdroads #mdtraffic #mdcommuters #wheatonmd

The speed limit is 30. Even with that hill, I'm skeptical that a 58-year old cyclist was exceeding that. It seems like they're trying to blame him for not being in the bike lane - but that's not illegal so they pulled up this thing.

A ticket for not riding "as close as safely practicable to the right curb or edge of the roadway" is suspect as well. I've never heard of anyone being ticketed for that. If they'd been farther to the right - they could still be hit by a driver turning left and not looking for them.

The cyclist was going east on Wilson (seen below) and the driver was turning left onto Manchester (Which I assume they were moving west on Wilson?) How can it possibly be the cyclists fault? They should have the right-of-way.

The Centreville Road sidepath is good. Too bad that Google maps doesn’t know it exists yet.

Just go a little north to Benjamin Street

It connects to the trail on the other side of I-495 for one. Also, I did bike Georgetown Pike - not great but doable. Also you build a network the same way you eat an elephant, one piece at a time

It appears to dead end near the GW Parkway. Excellent.

It goes north of Live Oak Road but isn’t finished yet. Not sure where it will end when work is done. (I don’t have a photo of the end because my phone died).

And then this is the section north of Georgetown Road. It’s on the East side of I-495.

You can see the incomplete part and a little trench part as well a couple of places where it could connect to the street grid at Spencer Road and Helga place

The last time I checked out the new (and not open) I -495 path this section from Old Dominion to Georgetown Pike was unpaved and unusable. The last 100 feet before Georgetown Pike is not paved or complete yet.

Google maps makes some interesting choices for me. The first is a path through McClean Hamlet Park and the second is the “path” in Old Bridge Road in McLean.

This week I biked to new places, rode rail and even a boat. And today I capped it off with the Bancroft bike bus! Thank you again to @ggwash.org for sponsoring and highlighting all the fantastic public transit options across our city!

The new section of the trail was open yesterday. Contractor was still working on installing signs.

Not with the bike trail right next to it (assuming there will be bike parking).
