It is easy to feel lost in such times. Society crumbles away beneath us. But everywhere I see those building the world we want to live in. Feeding the hungry. Housing the homeless. Protecting creatures no one else even notices. Fighting fiercely for lands others would trade for pennies. We don’t need to find a better world. It is already here.

That is our purpose, I think, as writers, as artists, as wanderers and waylarks right now. We feed on these dark times. We point to safe refuges in the dark of fertile soil. Then, we herald light’s return.
