My quilt, “The Price of Democracy”, a statement about how some people used the price of eggs as an excuse not to vote for a woman president in the year 2024, knowing that the other choice would try to destroy democracy here and abroad.

I made this quilt 25 years ago for my folks. It’s been loved to death and has holes in it and is overall pretty done. It’s been returned to me and I’m excited to chop it up and make something new out of its better bits.

We went from “what good are the humanities?” to “suddenly, no one can read” in about a year, and the answer to the first question is the disinformation and lack of critical thinking you see all around you. *That* is why you need the humanities. This is what they prevent.

Started a very geometric quilt pattern on the longarm today. Lots of starts and stops. It’s going to take awhile.

Feeling overwhelmed with the state of the world (and an extra heavy workload). I’m maxed out. If you need me I’ll be unavailable. I plan on hiding in a book.

I had a fun time with The Witches of Moonshyne Manor (by Bianca Marais) Secrets, suspense, and sisterhood all wrapped up in love and magic. The quirky old witches are funny and lovable and I’m only sad we didn’t get to see their characters flushed out more. A quick read and quite enjoyable.

Finished this quilt top. Reminds me of warm, waning summer evenings.

I think this is one of my favourite colourful climate chart type things, because it depicts two things at once:

- Things are going to get worse, no matter what

- The degree to which they get worse depends on decisions made today

Picking this quilt back up I started at the end of last summer. It was supposed to be a quick make! See how life goes?

Reading wrap up for the year. While I read a bunch of fiction, which is always a lot of fun, by far and away the best thing I read this year was the biography on King by Jonathan Eig. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Go check it out!

A thousand years ago my sweet friend hand printed this lovely fig fabric. Today, I found myself at the crossroads of admiring this little jewel and needing a wee needle book. Creation! It will live with my in-progress embroidery projects and supplies.

Day 11 of the Stitchy Advent Calendar Swap: Trash Panda Christmas* by Charlie Harper FTW! I had a good chuckle at this generous cut of fabric. 😂 It will definitely find its way into some Christmas project soon. 🎄🎅🏼🦝

* Not the actual name of the fabric. 😜

Day 10 of the Stitchy Advent Calendar Swap: Yessssss! I was hoping for a Rachel original bowl cozy. Sweet! She made me two previously and I use the crap out of them. Very excited for a third. ::does a little happy dance::

Now that it’s been gifted, this was one of the things I made for Rachel’s advent calendar… a pin cushion! I tried to tie it into her aesthetic. Last picture she’s showing it around her sewing room. Little guy looks right at home. 🤗

Day 7, 8 and 9 of the Stitchy Advent Calendar Swap: Some more fun spooky fabric, a few toys, and a bobbin trough. Is it bad I want to wear the spider ring to a fancy Christmas party? 😂💍🎄🍾🥂
