In hindsight I was a little suspicious now and then because the writing elements were a little off, but I naively attributed this to the game having a story element as a side feature instead of the main gameplay. Maybe they didn't have a writer and it was just a programmer doing their best. 🙃

Obviously all scams are shitty, but this just feels extra messed up. People posting on AO3 probably don't have a lot of money to begin with (I sure don't), and scammers are sniffing around and posting AI-generated flattery in an effort to take advantage of their ego and rip them off. Assholes.
