What about prosecutors? Attorneys Generals? What the hell makes ICE so special that they are the only piece of the law enforcement/justice system that is so cowardly that they can only do their job in secret?
January 9, 2026 at 4:03 PM
What about judges, both state and federal. They have in fact sometimes been the targets of reprisals. Should court now be conducted Wizard of Oz style so you don’t know the name or face of the judge presiding over your case? Somehow they keep doing their jobs out in the open.

Why isn’t that true for your regular, local law enforcement? You know, who instead of moving around the country are Policing the same streets every day and living locally. Much easier to track and under this logic much more vulnerable. Somehow they manage to go unmasked.

Secondly, and MUCH more importantly, the argument that they have to hide their face to protect themselves and their loved ones is THE DUMBEST argument ever.

These people arguing for the necessity of masks for ICE; First, I remember 5 years ago when there was no greater injustice than having to wear a mask and it was feat only achievable by people with Olympic level cardiovascular skills. Guess they got over that.

People are just staggeringly stupid. Yeah, I kinda always knew this, but we’re just confronted with it every day now.

So. Ari Aster is some Andy Kaufman level con, right? Just watched Eddington and I watched Hereditary recently, neither make any sense. I haven’t seen Midsommar, but now I can’t say I have very high hopes that it’s not weird and disappointing.

Impressively defeating an imaginary enemy.
Five years ago, @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social and I did a story about rural Oregon's fever dream that Antifa was coming to their town from Portland.

Hundreds showed up armed downtown because they heard on Facebook that "Antifa buses" were coming.

No buses came so they said Antifa "retreated."
In Klamath Falls, Oregon, victory declared over antifa, which never showed up
Towns from Washington state to Indiana have seen armed groups begin patrolling the streets after rumors spread on social media about an antifa invasion.

Wow Trump, a trade deal with our oldest and strongest ally, how’d you manage that? Also, good thing we secured that supply of crumpets and haggis.

I’m no law guy, but I don’t think the judge is buying their theory.
NEW: In the Mahmoud Khalil case, Judge Farbiarz orders the government to give him a COMPLETE LIST of every time since 1975 it has invoked the secretary of state's power to deport someone for foreign-policy reasons—including a description of each case's facts and a copy of the official determination.

Love me some David Simon.
Seriously, I wasn't present to hear how this supposed homicidal threat fell upon a vulnerable young scribe at today's New York Times. Maybe it had real menace. Or, maybe, just spitballing here, today's reporters have asses made of candy. Dunno.

When faced with the choice of continuing to be one of the most powerful leaders on the planet and the possibility he might have to spend another minute with Vance Pope Francis RAN towards that light.
April 21, 2025 at 2:16 PM
The Pope had seen all sorts of suffering in this world but was forced to meet Vance and was like, “If this is humanity, that’s it, I’m out.”

Vance killed the pope. Literally the anti-Christ.

I swear I'm not trying to be pedantic, but my problem with these headlines is, if you fall down a hole, and then climb most, but not even all, of the way out (DJIA still down over 3% over last 90 days, over 4% YTD), that is most certainly not "soaring".

Honestly, do any of ever trust that “instead of waiting, we can call you back” option when you’re waiting to talk to customer service?

Even if you’re a fan of “efficiency” or austerity or belt tightening or whatever you want to call it. This isn’t getting rid of free coffee in the break room. These are mass firings. 10,000 jobs. These are your neighbors. Out of work.

Looking at the guy sitting in front of me. If you’re bald and have a beard, how far up your ear is the beard supposed to go?
