I talked to at least two people who came out from the neighborhoods nearby Borski Park (Bridesburg and Port Richmond), which always makes me happy. Starting bike rides at different locations brings out the locals. Thanks to Tristan at @riverfrontnorth.bsky.social for hosting us!

Last night was the first night of October, and it felt like the first night of fall. We had, I'm not sure, maybe 70-80 people for this ride through the Riverwards? I didn't take any good pictures, but here's a nice one from @0x6772.bsky.social of us taking over Campbell Square (our midpoint)

~After dark, PA law requires a headlight & a red tail light/reflector on all bikes.

~We ride for fun- we might encounter hostile drivers, but our practice is to avoid conflict as much as possible: please pull over to the side to let aggro drivers go rather than engaging in confrontation.

Last night's ride was extremely cool. The rain stopped! We had, I don't know, I didn't count, maybe 70? excellent humans who rode a very cool vinyl-adjacent route before ending at a record lounge in Old City. A++, would ride again

Did you know this exists in Philly? We used this new light sculpture as a regrouping spot on tonight’s @wednightrides.org.

Come out and ride tonight on this fun route that I developed that highlights Philly record shops and bars that spin vinyl!

Looks like the rain is going to hold off too. Bring a Bluetooth speaker and play your favorite music!

The WNR Strava club keeps growing, over 200 now. We've talked about deleting it in the past, but people keep joining and it's a good alternative to Insta for ride photos/videos, plus you can see what other kinds of adventures folks get up to www.strava.com/clubs/wednig...

September 17 Wednesday Night Rides route: starts at Singing Fountain (E Passyunk & 11th St) proceeds north to Oxford before heading east through Fishtown, ending at 48 Record Bar (Chestnut & 2nd)
wednightrides.org
The ride ends near 2nd & Chestnut. You’ll have your choice of 3 bars to end the evening: upstairs at
48 Record Bar (small space w/ capacity of 35), downstairs at Sassafras, or nearby Brownies Irish Pub. Also consider bar-hopping to give folks a chance to check out 48 Record Bar!

Buying records is a great way to support musicians who’ve been struggling to make a living on the fractions of a penny paid out per stream. It also encourages the ritual of listening to entire albums instead of being at the mercy of algorithm-driven playlists.

Molly’s Books and Records
