The delegation is headed by Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, and includes Husam Badran, head of national relations, Zaher Jabareen, Basem Naim, Ghazi Hamad already in Cairo, and Khaled Mashal. According to the report, Cairo will host parallel talks among Palestinian factions aimed at agreeing on a Gaza administration committee, expected to consist of 15 independent Palestinian figures from Gaza tasked with managing the Strip during the interim period and preparing for reconstruction. An Egyptian source told Al Araby Al Jadeed that the Hamas delegation is scheduled to meet Sunday with Egyptian General Intelligence chief Hassan Rashad to discuss developments in Gaza.

Every prediction about the twists and turns this conflict would take have proven true: every neighboring state and regional power is now involved; it is the world's deadliest conflict that is spilling over its borders; and it has increasingly become ethnicized. Despite some indications from Washington that Sudan would take on a higher priority, the US continues to be distracted by new (Venezuela) and higher priority (Ukraine) conflicts. The day-to-day response continues to be administered in an ad hoc, unstrategic fashion. She said some of the hunger strikers have gone without food for more than 60 days.
