Thank you for that last sentence. @washingtonpost.com @nytimes.com take note. This is not to address violent crime, which is down. This is to distract, cause chaos, fear and target poor people, especially the unhoused. This is despicable, unacceptable and likely unlawful.
Breaking: Trump says he's placing the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control and deploying the National Guard to the streets of Washington D.C.

Violent crime has declined for the last two years in the district.

My about to be 6th grader is home from camp, so I’ve now seen the ridiculously insulting ad on YouTube thanking Jon Husted for his vote to “help” Ohioans. We will not be buying this BS. The legislation is horrifically bad for our state. He voted for it anyway. We will remember next November.

Amen
Dems should fight on every front.

If Texas steals 5 seats, Dem states should redistrict 30 GOP members out of their districts.

We should insist DOJ release the entire Epstein File.

Not only shouldn't we bring knives to a gun fight, if they bring pistols, we should bring machine guns.

TFW when you’re attending @clevelandorch.bsky.social concert and realize the contemporary composer is seated right in front of you! ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS world premiere of Allison Loggins-Hull’s Grit. Grace. Glory. Well-deserving of the sustained standing ovation it (&she) received!

This. Is. Not. Normal. Nor is it remotely okay!
Things the president of the United States said on meet the press today:

He doesn’t know if he has to follow the constitution

He’s fine with a recession

Americans can do with less

Small businesses are just “a couple of little businesses”

This. Read the whole thread.
Ben Franklin on inoculation, after his son died from smallpox.

“In 1736, I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation”.

This.
On this 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride, I keep thinking of a few lines from the last stanza of Longfellow’s poem:

“And so through the night went his cry of alarm…
A cry of defiance and not of fear…”

“In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear…”

Much, much worse than had been implied earlier.
This video shows the fire damage inside the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion.

Governor Shapiro’s reaction to the arson attack is on my timeline.
April 14, 2025 at 2:34 AM
Feels like it should be (much) bigger news that an arsonist set fire to the Governors Mansion in Pennsylvania on the first night of Passover while the Jewish governor and his family were asleep. Thankful that no one was hurt.

Thank you @corybooker.com @booker.senate.gov and thank you @sifill.bsky.social … we must all make Good Trouble consistently.
Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?
April 2, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Cory Booker will break the record for longest Senate floor speech at 7:19 PM EDT. Fewer than 2 hours from now. The record is held by Strom Thurmond, who was arguing for segregation. GO CORY, GO!
April 1, 2025 at 9:57 PM
If you are able, turn on C-SPAN2 and watch. @corybooker.com @booker.senate.gov is still speaking. I believe he’s at 14 hours. He’s had a little help from some stellar colleagues. Thank you. Let’s keep going.

This.
Re the elections tonight:

Wisconsin: a win by any margin is a huge victory.

Florida: anything better than a loss of 20 in either district is a victory. Single digits is earth shattering.

Do. Not. Let. Them. Spin. The. Narrative.

Cory Booker on the Senate floor: “I rise with the intention of disrupting the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able. Our constituents are asking us to acknowledge that this is a crisis. So I am going to stand here until I no longer can.”

This is what happens when a president doesn’t understand basic things. Like size of nations.

Amen
We’re only two months in, & they’re cancelling research into pediatric brain cancer. They’re deporting US kids with brain cancer. They’re putting millions at risk of malaria, TB, & polio.

I for one will never forgive or forget those who said ‘it won’t be that bad’.

Gov. Mills: I’ll comply with the state and federal laws

Trump: We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funds.

Gov Mills: See you in court

Your Jewish friends are not okay. No one should be okay.

Just feel the need to note that I would prefer living in much more precedented times.

This is a long, painful, painful, important read.

I’ll just leave this here.

Every. Single. Day.
Every Democrat should be telling this story.
"[Musk] is trying to gut everything good in America for his own private profit. This is the culmination of what oligarchy is all about...the fusion and the capture of the billionaire class of our democracy." - @aoc.bsky.social with @fedworkersunited.bsky.social today #SaveOurServices

Over recent weeks, I've realized how many of my once-sacred givens are now up for debate in my heart and how much grieving this reality has yielded.

Maybe you’re in the same place of uncertainty and instability.
