I started meditating. I think I’ve finally reached a point where I can’t endure the noise in my head anymore. It used to feel too spiritual, too new-age — like a pointless trick people use just to feel better. But I figured, no harm in trying.

It’s not easy, but I am trying to see it as just another life experience. Thank you so much for the lovely comment!

I got to illustrate dance sequences for one of my client projects, and ever since, I’ve been wanting to explore it in my personal work. Today, I finally did. #illustration

So… I was supposed to take my N1-level JLPT test today. But thanks to the typhoon, it got cancelled, which feels like a blessing in disguise, since I felt really unprepared and had been stressed about it all month. Thanks universe.

I tried making a few pages of comics, not many, just four to be exact. But even in those few pages, there were moments that made me feel like I could actually be good at this. And I desperately want to be. It's a feeling I never once had when working a corporate job.

That’s probably why learning to like your own work feels so important. Just being quietly happy with something you made, so much that it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks.

Such a cliche, but took me a long time to grasp.

Logically, you know likes on social media aren’t everything.
There are so many random factors involved. But when there’s no clear way to tell if your art is “good,” it’s easy to start paying too much attention to the numbers.

KPop Demon Hunters comes out tomorrow on Netflix! I worked as a visdev artist on this film back in 2023 and it was a blast. Get ready for some high-energy fun with a killer soundtrack! Hope everyone enjoys the movie!!

Tried something new with panels, and it turned into a pretty tasty ramen story. #illustration #comics

I say “subconsciously” because I never seriously considered becoming a graphic novel artist—at least not until a couple of weeks ago.

I don’t know, it just hit me recently that it could actually be really cool to tell a full story in my own style.

I think, subconsciously, I’ve always loved comics as a storytelling form.

I still feel pretty new to the industry, even though I’ve been sharing my work online for years before taking it more seriously. Some days it’s easy to brush things off. Other days, you just sigh, make another cup of coffee, and keep going.

Got a rejection letter this morning.

It was for an illustrator open call I applied to about a month ago. Cold emailing was part of the process. I’m usually pretty okay with rejection, but after a slow, quiet month, this one stung a little more than usual.

I didn’t expect to get this attached to these two. Three little comics in, and I’m already thinking, maybe their story deserves a zine?

And yet, here’s the contradiction: I love sharing. Probably an undiagnosed oversharer.

Most people think out loud in their private diary or note app.
Me? I am here typing everything out in public.

I like writing, but for some reason, the idea of sharing my thoughts is terrifying. I’m scared of being judged for my opinions.

At some point, it starts to feel no different from AI mimicking Ghibli: familiar on the surface, but missing the soul.

We’re working so hard to protect our art from AI. Why turn around and do this to each other?

We’ve all had this conversation too many times. And it’s just sad that it still keeps happening.

Finding your own voice takes time. Skipping that process doesn’t just miss the point, it disrespects the years of work behind someone else’s.
