It honestly feels euphoric to experience a platform without a swarm of hate groups constantly hunting every post. I forgot what it was like 🙂

hello devs!! say hi to @atproto.com 👋

we’ll be using this account to share *your projects* that you’re building on top of atproto! the bluesky team also gets into some pretty interesting technical convos deep in the replies, and @atproto.com can broadcast that info further 🗣️
The AT Protocol, or atproto, is a new foundation for social networking which gives creators independence from platforms, developers the freedom to build, and users a choice in their experience.

The AT Protocol
In the spring, we released “ADX,” the very first iteration of the protocol. Over the summer we improved ADX’s design, and today we’re sharing a preview of what’s to come.

hey anil! there’s no blockchain. there’s a user recovery key for accounts, user data is stored in merkle trees, and this is hosted on servers. as if your social data were hosted in a git repo you could transfer from github to gitlab (between hosts)

Free advice to the top biskies: you want to add people closest to the exist network to maximize engagement. To do this, let *everyone* nominate folks to the waitlist/co-sign existing ones. Sort by number of requests and process the list.

Or take existing list and cluster by non-generic domain.

talked to @jay.bsky.team about this app/protocol

Using @bsky.app api to spatialize the skyline. The feed data is used to prompt a summary from the in-world NPC “What’s on the skyline?”

Login is unified with the WP user system for sessions.

Can even ask her to shitpost for me.

yeah twitter ran a proposal process in 2021 and picked me to lead bluesky. so i spun it out as an independent company (not trusting in twitter's stability as an institution, which was the right call), and jack is on the board.

the main thing I'm excited about is that (afaik) anyone can build their own UI

in theory this is sorta possible with APIs for other platforms but twitter's API has made third-party clients nearly impossible for like a decade

4. Huge focus on AT Protocol is on creating custom algorithms and moderation systems. When it's ready, people will be able to deploy new feed & user discovery algos same as making a new web service (if not easier). That's the major goal of the whole thing
