Really hoping silicon graphite anodes make 600 mile range a reality sooner rather than later

Real house prices are really high and mortgage rates would have to get really low to get affordability back to 2015-2019 levels. Unclear that housing will save us. Home ATM might help but you need a lot of mortgage origination.

This seems wrong to me. One, a risk off cycle has broader wealth effect implications than top decile right now given breadth of American wealth in equities right now not to mention crypto holdings. Two, unemployment did go up in 2001 despite concentration of stock crash in tech. Three...

Really feel like crypto and quantum computing should not be going up at the same time

The Indian comedian Kunal Kamra was forced offstage after a political joke led to a mob attack. Unlike Jimmy Kimmel, he is unlikely to return anytime soon.”

The HTC's position is:
-No more hotels
-Except for casinos
-Also no new apartments

Good @nickgarber.bsky.social catch: 32BJ, Hotel Trades Council and the Carpenters are coming out *against* the housing reform amendments on the City Charter -- x.com/nick_garber/...
Inbox: Speaker Adams and labor unions including HTC, 32BJ & the Carpenters will rally (implicitly) against the ballot measures on the LES tomorrow.

Notable to see HTC and BJ, two powerful unions that are supporting Zohran Mamdani and haven’t been very vocal against the measures

I agree blame has a negative connotation I just think if you're taking credit for the fight people are going to learn to credit you for the fight whether negative or positive.
wertwhile.bsky.social
I mean Democrats are also taking credit for it because voters are on our side and our side is hearing that message. "We shut down the government because we want you to have ACA subsidies" is a message that Democrats are pumping out, reasonably. In general, I think the leaders have done well here!
benjaminkabak.com
The biggest shift is among Democrats blaming their own representatives which I think speaks to the failure of Dem leadership to more forcefully blame Republicans for the shutdown but also how weird.
polltracker.bsky.social
Which party do you blame for the government shutdown?

🔴 Republicans in Congress 43% (−2)
🔵 Democrats in Congress 38% (+6)

Agree with all of this. I just want some humility! I also thought Uber was a flawed and fucked business model long run and I was wrong. It's not like cars couldn't be described as depreciating quickly.
wertwhile.bsky.social
It's true, otoh, Moore's law applies to chips still seemingly and didn't to Uber's business. If they just stopped trying to be at the frontier and chip cost fell by 90% over the next 5 years, who knows?

Guy who thinks the problem with Bari Weiss is that she's a very bad person committed to defending the worst of humanity who will ruin the integrity of CBS News and not that the Free Press's business model isn't worthy of a huge some of money.
wertwhile.bsky.social
I think you're off an order of magnitude.
wertwhile.bsky.social
for one we're trying to electrify everything and so we have huge load demands coming before even getting to data center demands.
wertwhile.bsky.social
Also re banning exports, if gas is plentiful and cheap and replaces coal and supports renewables growth by dealing with intermittency/peak load issues, why should that be reserved for the US?
wertwhile.bsky.social
Suppose there was support for banning exports and regulating methane leaks, what would your answer be then?
wertwhile.bsky.social
? for followers: if I said "we need to expand natural gas production" would your reaction be 1) no wind/ solar are cheaper and gas contributes to climate change, 2) gas is a necessary complement to renewables until batteries/nuclear scale, or 3) we should curb energy use at data centers?

Sora is bad for copyright and privacy and truth in the world. But the route to making money is scarily easy!
wertwhile.bsky.social
Sora has an obvious route to profitability that Reels/Instagram/Youtube have, which is selling stuff while addicting people to AI generated crap. Their recommendation algorithms are great for selling us stuff. They might even make the ads themselves. Compute costs can and will go down.

There seems to be tons of capital flowing in!
