Like there are Freudians who seem like very nice people and who do clever scholarship but it will always be a red flag for me. Especially in psychology 🤫, but literary studies also gets 🙄.

At least part of it is competition amongst each other about grant money: top of the R1 heap, emerging centers of excellence, etc.

And said administrators always looking for the next rung up the ladder.

I was always confused as a #HistSci student about the reverence for Freud outside of the research discipline nominally most associated with clinical analysis. And psychology being indifferent at best.
