In that moment, I saw before me — with an inner tremor — the path that too many of my neighbors had taken. Without steady, decently paying employment, they took on physically demanding day labor, got hurt, relied on painkillers and slid into a downward spiral.

A 43-year-old father of two, Ahmed al Ahmed, snuck up & tackled a gunman to disarm him. Ahmed was shot twice.

Gotta say, the argument that the ERA would have weakened the 14th amendment looks pretty silly in light of what has become of the 14th amendment in its absence.

I've definitely become more of a 'learn news from the feed' person in the last few years.

NYT's 10 minute 'headline' audio on the morning dog walk is a good antidote to that. Plus then I usually follow up with an audio version of one of their bigger articles.

very pleasant & low maintenance

Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.
