This morning I turned on my phone only to find that it had changed my user name to Shirley, and when I tried to enter a simple Google query it came out as "Do you like gladiator movies?"

Then I realised it was in Airplane! mode.

I know people's voices change over time, but it really doesn't sound like him.

Given that Eleanor lives in NZ, this is an early and strong contender for the copy of #IntoTheGroove that has travelled the furthest.

Because I know you were wondering, the 2 rhythms I tap out with a wooden spoon on the rim of a saucepan to get any sauce off it into the pan are (a) the 6-beat figure that ends the Henry the Horse waltz in Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite or (b) the drum pattern that opens Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

It’s back on the radio these days with Merton and a single guest but it’s all a bit generic now, the dislikes. I loved it when the targets were very specific.

Tonight on #TheRepairShop: restoring a childhood face flannel that brings back fond memories of teenage acne; a transistor radio built by a hobbyist in Halifax who died in a freak tumble dryer accident; and a tablecloth that really just needs a boil wash and it’ll be fine

You know the lyric, ‘If you’re happy and you know it, shout “we are”’, well that response only applies to the first half, it then doesn’t make sense.

‘Great’ would, in Tony’s world, have four or five more r’s in it.

I can’t help but remember something Nick Hancock said in a very offhand way (and it was Tbf about Peter Sarstedt’s ah-ha-ha-ha): ‘Songs where you can hear the words, you’re meant to think they’re clever’.
